how it works
Tried and tested antimicrobial/antibacterial protection.

Based on chemistry that was developed by Dow Chemical in the early 1970’s, DURABAN is an amino-functional silane (Si-QAC) that has been extensively studied and found to be highly effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms.

DURABAN, the first water-based version of this chemistry, is formulated to create a built-in antimicrobial/antibacterial surface barrier that gives treated products the ability to prohibit microorganisms like mold, mildew and bacteria with a safe and highly effective mechanism.

Incorporated into a product surface during the manufacturing process, DURABAN chemically cross-links with the surface to create a non-leaching antimicrobial barrier that mechanically punctures and then electrocutes microorganisms like mold, mildew and bacteria.

Unlike conventional antimicrobials that must leach or migrate from the surface in order to work, DURABAN’s non-leaching technology is permanently bonded to the surface, meaning strength and efficacy will not diminish over time.
